Now in its 14th year, the event not only offers a run and walk through town but also a small festival for kids and an awards ceremony for all age categories. It kicks off at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at the area adjacent to the Ossining Community Center, 95 Broadway.
The running race starts at the Main Street post office and end at the Double Arch, while the walkers start and end at the Double Arch. Race organizers say runners should be prepared to run on different surfaces, such as grass, pavement and wood chips.
To register, visit the Ossining Matters website until Sept. 8. There will also be in-person registration and packet pick-up from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 9 at Laur-Lee Sports, 211 N. Highland Ave.
Organizers ask that those who register ahead of time pick up packets Friday to help make Saturday check-in smoother. There will also be registration and packet pickup starting at 7:30 a.m. on race day at the Community Center, but officials encourage people to register early and get packets on Friday.
Cost is $25 for adults for the run for those registering online, and $35 for in-person registration. The adult walk is $20 in advance and $25 in-person. Costs for students to run is $15 online and $25 in-person for the run, and $10 online and $15 in-person for the walk.
Proceeds benefit the Ossining Matters Education Foundation, which awards grants for a variety of education-related projects throughout Ossining schools. For details, visit the group's website.
